Brandýsek Basement Band

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

This is a song inspired by personal experience with drinking and abstinence.

WHEN I WAS A DRINKIN'

by The Brandýsek Basement Band

I used to drink my fair share and I could always hold my own

No matter how drunk I was, I seemed find my way home

But then one day, I didn’t make it back in one piece

I decided then and there, my drinkin’ days would cease.

Now I am a teatotal baby, and the world is bright and fair

I don’t wake up afraid of what my friends may have shared

And I remember everything, and for a price I may not tell.

Be a teatotal buddy and that living hell.

When I was a’ drinking, I would have lot of fun

When I was a’ drinking, I thought I’d kept those blues on the run

But when I’d wake up, all my blues remained.

And I had to show was an ache deep down in my brain.

So I would recommend this path to my friends both near and far

Some of you need it more and you know just who you are

And when the night is over, your mind is very clear

You’ll never have to ask yourself  “How did I get here?”

When I was a’ drinking, I would have lot of fun

When I was a’ drinking, I thought I’d kept those blues on the run

But when I’d wake up, all my blues remained.

And I had to show was an ache deep down in my brain.
